Assassin's Creed Valhalla saw twice as many active players on launch day than Odyssey

By Heidi Nicholas,
By all accounts, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is establishing itself as one of the best AC games, ever. This seems to be backed up by player engagement as according to Ubisoft, Valhalla saw double the number of active players on launch day than Assassin's Creed Odyssey had.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Assassin's Creed Odyssey was the biggest shift in direction that the AC franchise had seen in some time, yet according to Ubisoft, Valhalla's player engagement on day one was twice as big. We had the chance to play Valhalla before launch day, and you can check out what we thought in our Assassin's Creed Valhalla: first impressions (spoiler alert, we loved it.) Valhalla expertly improves upon Odyssey (which didn't always live up to its own ambitions,) while also bringing in parts from older AC games that long-time fans might have missed in more recent titles, and yet still manages to be a fantastic game in its own right.

Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO of Ubisoft, said in a press release that Valhalla "builds on the amazing success of its predecessors... In the context of COVID-19, shipping Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on no less than seven platforms is an incredible achievement for all of the teams involved around the world. We are excited to greet players on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 with a game that unleashes the power of the new hardware. This paves the way for an exciting Christmas period, with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla set to be one of this season’s biggest hits.”
