THQ Nordic and Deep Silver parent company acquires 13 more studios

By Brittany Vincent,
Video game holdings company Embracer Group, formerly known as THQ Nordic, just acquired 13 new companies.

The outfit, which you might remember is responsible for developer Purple Lamp Studios (Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated), made the announcement on its official blog today.

The company's list of acquisitions include Shadow Warrior developer Flying Wild Hog, Zen Studios, Coffee Stain North, Silent Games, and more. Here's a full list of game developers the group just added to its fold:

  • A Thinking Ape Entertainment
  • Zen Studios
  • Snapshot Games
  • Nimble Giant Entertainment
  • 34BigThings
  • Mad Head Games
  • Purple Lamp Studios
  • IUGO Mobile Entertainment
  • Coffee Stain North
  • Silent Games
  • Flying Wild Hog
Additionally, Embracer also added non-developer entities in the form of PR firm Sandbox Strategies and Romanian QA specialist Quantic Lab.

These are just the latest additions by Embracer Group, following May's larger series of additions to the company as well. At that time, it was estimated that Embracer Group had about 69 unannounced projects in the works. Most recently in August, we saw the outfit also add developer 4A Games to its collective.

It's only a matter of time before the rest of the game industry is usurped by Embracer Group in some way. We kid, but they certainly have plenty of outfits at their disposal. There could be something big coming, after all.
