Make sure you unlock these 12 date-specific achievements over the holidays

By Sean Carey,
It may be the holidays, but that is absolutely not an excuse to slack off on your achievement hunting efforts! Some dastardly game developers have seen fit to include achievements in their games that can only be unlocked over the Christmas period.

Below we've detailed all the date-specific achievements that can be unlocked over the holidays. Some can be unlocked tomorrow (December 24th) and others on the big day, December 25th. So put down the presents, step away from the turkey, and jump into the following games.

The Swindle - December 24th

the swindle 1

The first achievement you'll need to unlock is the You're a mean one achievement in The Swindle. This can only be unlocked on December 24th. To meet its requirements, you'll need to clear a house in The Slums with 100% loot collected on Christmas Eve (which isn't very Christmassy at all).

Halo: The Master Chief Collection - December 25th and January 1st

Halo 4 MCC PC

Next up, we'll be jumping into Halo: The Master Chief Collection to unlock two more achievements. The Elder Signs achievement requires players to view two different sigils on the Halo 3 map Valhalla on two different days of the year. This can be done in matchmaking, custom games Only one sigil can be viewed at a time, and it can be found on the far wall located behind the turret. The sigil on December 25th will be a Christmas light with an "X" marked through it. For more and an offline method, check out the Elder Signs achievement guide on TA.

Providing you've viewed another sigil earlier in the year, the achievement should pop. The next time a sigil will be viewable will be on January 1st (New Years Day).

After you've visited Valhalla, you'll be heading to Zanzibar. Fire up a custom game on the Halo 2 classic map Zanzibar. To pop the Destination Vacation achievement you'll need to head over to the beach and look at a sign next to the water that should read on Christmas Day: "Danger, This Soffish, DO NOT EAT!" If you don't view the sign on December 25th, the next time it'll be visible will be on January 1st. For more, and an offline solution to this achievement, check out the top-rated guide here on TA.

Batman: Arkham City - December 25th and January 1st

Calendar Man

Next, you have an important date with Calendar Man in Batman: Arkham City for the Storyteller achievement. You'll be able to pop this one on December 25th or at least make some progress towards it. For Storyteller, you need to talk to Calendar Man on 12 specific dates throughout the year. You'll find him in the Solomon Wayne Courthouse which can be accessed near the game's beginning. It should be noted that the Storyteller achievement goes by the GMT timezone, not your local timezone, so bear that in mind. The next day you'll need to visit him will be on January 1st. This can be done offline by changing your console's date, but it can be a bit finicky. For more, check out this guide. There are also Xbox 360 and Windows 10 stacks for Batman: Arkham City, so don't forget to visit Calendar Man in those versions of the game too.

Saw 2: Flesh & Blood - December 25th

Saw 2: Flesh and Blood achievement

Possibly the most non-festive achievement you'll need to unlock on Christmas Day is the You Wasted Your Life achievement in Saw 2: Flesh & Blood. All you need to do is fire up the game and reach the main menu, and the achievement should pop. Unfortunately, Saw 2: Flesh & Blood has been delisted from the Microsoft Store, and it's not backwards compatible, so you're going to need an Xbox 360 to pop this one.

Next up, we have another non-backwards compatible Xbox 360 title that also requires a Kinect. To pop the Go Shorty achievement, you'll need to fire up and complete 50 Cent's famed Christmas smash Hit "In Da Club" with Oblio. If you don't manage it on December 25th, you can pop the achievement on December 31st by completing the song with Dr Tan instead.
