TA Gaming Stats - June 27th to July 3rd 2011

By Dog of Thunder, 7 years ago
Welcome to the first round of stats for the month of July! Sure there's only three days worth of information from July here, but it counts. Changes will be coming to the weekly stats postings in the future, as we attempt to bring you the stats that you are demanding to see. Windows Phone 7 stats receive their own category for starters, and an increase from five games to ten should bring us some more surprises.

Beyond those changes, please comment on any others you want to see; "Least Played Game", a common suggestion, will not happen though, nor will "Personal Bests", as we do not want to mention any specific gamers.

I will stop wasting your time and get right into the real reason you are here, stats!

This report is for the period June 27th to July 3rd 2011.

Games Started
32,221 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 54,590 games between them (1,358 different games).

F.E.A.R. 3 leads an eclectic mix of titles this week ahead of former top dogs Duke Nukem Forever and L.A. Noire. Alice: Madness Returns provides a strange footnote when it is paired with The Duke.

The original American McGee's Alice, was released for PC in 2000. Duke Nukem Forever had an original PC release date of 1998. Both arrived on the Xbox 360 in June 2011. Shadows of the Damned was also a hit this week, giving us hope for more of Suda 54's patented insanity in the future.

I for one, welcome our new avian overlords. Angry Birds is the most popular mobile game of all time and it is finally available for the Windows Phone 7. The best the flock could do this week was a near photo finish with Iron Brigade. Trenched is still not available in the EU and yet it is burning up the arcade charts.

Half-Minute Hero: Super Mega Neo Climax is the oddest RPG I have ever seen in action. Oddly enough, it tied with Kinect Fun Labs: Kinect Me. Tied! What are the odds of that happening?*

*Rhetorical question, I am certain we have some serious math nuts that can actually provide the answer.

Games Completed
6,617 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,274 games between them (952 different games).

Hey guy living under a rock! Did you know that by switching to Geico you can save 15% on your car insurance? Did you also know that another map pack came out for Call of Duty: Black Ops? No? Well that is why it has jumped to the #1 spot.

Speaking as a grown, married man that keeps a 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime in his gaming room, Transformers: Dark of the Moon showing up here warms my heart. At this point, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean and Portal 2 are going to run out of people to complete them.

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 was tapped by the most gamers this week. Get it? Tapped? Nerd humor.

The bottom three games continue to prove that "Free" and "Half-off" remain major incentives for people to start and finish Arcade titles. I long for the day when I get to look at any listing of Arcade Games without Harms Way looking right back at me.

Achievements Won
57,721 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 747,115 achievements online between them (37,653 different achievements).

The Top Achievements Won are split evenly between Call of Duty: Black Ops and Angry Birds (WP7). That is a little like if Saving Private Ryan and Follow That Bird: The Sesame Street Movie were to ever split a weekend box office between them.
