New Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game reportedly in the works, but not at EA

By Sean Carey,
A new Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game, that's not being developed by EA and BioWare, is reportedly in the works.

Knights of the Old Republic

As originally reported by VGC, this latest rumour comes from known Star Wars insider Bespin Bulletin who, citing their own sources and referencing comments made by Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, suggested that a new entry into the RPG series is in development at an unnamed studio. "Amongst my digging, I heard there is a Knights of the Old Republic project in development somewhere," Bespin Bulletin revealed on a recent B.O.B. The Podcast episode. "I talked to a couple of people, and I also found out that Jason Schreier said that it’s not with EA, and we’ll ‘never guess’ who the studio is that’s making this game."

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier previously hinted on both Twitter and Resetera that the project was in development by a studio other than EA saying that nobody would be able to guess who the developer is.

Rumours surrounding a new KoTOR game have been floating around the internet for a while now. Website Cinelinx reported last year that a Knights of the Old Republic remake or a "sequel of sorts" was in the works, citing independent sources.

Bespin Bulletin also said they heard that a bounty hunter game was in development possibly by Ubisoft or EA and that EA was working on a smaller, unannounced Star Wars game.

Recently we heard that Lucasfilm Games had entered into a partnership with Ubisoft to create a new story-driven, open-world Star Wars game. This partnership also signals the end of EA's Star Wars exclusivity deal.
