Another Exclusive Deal For Rugby World Cup 2011

By Keith Gray, 7 years ago

Further to the announcements about the official licensing deals agreed with the RFU, WRU and FFR for Rugby World Cup 2011, Jblacq has kindly informed us that exclusivity rights have also been confirmed with the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) and South Africa Rugby Football Union (SARFU).

Keep your eye on the ball, as more deals are likely to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Original Story

In recent weeks, 505 Games and HB Studios have so far revealed two exclusivity deals they have struck with international rugby federations for Rugby World Cup 2011.

The agreements which have been previously announced allow the official details of the English and French teams to be included in the upcoming title. Following those deals, both the publisher and developer had hinted (with the help of four screenshots), that further official licensing was in the process of being finalised.

True to their word, 505 Games and HB Studios have today announced yet another licensing partnership. This time around, the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) have decided to allow their team strip, emblem and home ground, the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, to feature in the new game.

Two more screenshots have also been revealed to accompany the latest announcement:

As well as the individual agreements with each national team, HB Studios have also been granted the official license for the tournament as a whole. Alastair Jarvis, General Manager at HB Studios had the following to say about the recent announcements:

From a developer perspective, working with an official license always opens doors on the way to creating a more immersive gaming experience... At HB, we feel uniquely placed when it comes to rugby game development, and tying up a deal such as this only makes our dream of creating the definitive, authentic rugby title achievable

Finally, as mentioned earlier, there have been past rumours of more, similar team partnership deals; however, HB Studios have now confirmed that fans should be aware that "further licensing deals [are set] to be announced in due course".

Rugby World Cup 2011 is set to be released on August 26th, 2011.
