TA Playlist game for March 2021 decided by a tiebreaker

By The TA Playlist Team,
As February draws to a close, you have one final week to join us in investigating the Federal Bureau of Control as its new director in the current TA Playlist game Control.

While you do so, we have a very interesting result for the TA Playlist for March.

For the first time in TA Playlist history, the voting has resulted in a dead heat between two games: Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Grim Fandango (representing the platformer and adventure genres, respectively). Each game received exactly 717 votes apiece. As this is unprecedented, we decided that a tiebreaker vote was needed (the Playlist coding couldn’t cope with having two winning games!). We spoke to Mr TrueAchievement himself, who cast the deciding vote.

The game chosen as the TA Playlist game for March is Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy

Championing the platformer genre for this month, the original Spyro trilogy were some of the best-loved 3D platformers of their era, receiving critical acclaim and massive sales when they were originally released for Playstation in 1998-2000. Rather than simply porting those originals with a new coat of paint, 2018’s Spyro Reignited Trilogy rebuilt the games from the ground up. The gameplay and level design remain true to the originals, but they were significantly graphically upgraded, and the soundtracks were rerecorded (with the original composer and the voice actor for Spyro). Also, certain elements are now unified across the trilogy, such as skill points and some of Spyro’s moves. Each game features the titular purple dragon as he traverses different worlds, defeating evil forces and collecting gems and other curiosities alongside his dragonfly sidekick, Sparx.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy currently has a rating of 4.54 out of 5.00 here on TA, one of the highest-rated platformers on TA. Each game can be completed in 8-10 hours, with a total completion estimate of around 25-30 hours. 18% of the over 61,000 players on TA have completed it.

If you find yourself struggling to unlock any achievements, you’ll find that we have a very useful we have a walkthrough here on TA courtesy of ASUnknown1 and CitrineWorm138.

The TA Playlist is a monthly community event. Everyone votes on which of four games to play, and then we all play through it in the following month. There's a dedicated hub to discuss everything about the game, from story beats to gameplay tips – and of course, you can track your achievement progress during the month as well. TA Playlist was created by Mark Delaney and is now run by Miles, Nici and Chewie.
