Defiance 2050's servers set to close in April

By Sean Carey,
Trion Worlds and Gamigo have announced that servers for free-to-play action-RPG Defiance 2050 will close on April 29th, discontinuing all achievements in the process.

According to Trion Worlds, the player base for Defiance 2050 became so small the game could no longer sustain itself. "While we are discontinuing the games service, we will never forget the incredible journey we embarked on together. It is never easy to announce the shutdown of any game, knowing how much time and effort we have all put into making Defiance and Defiance 2050 enjoyable for many years," a post on the Defiance forums reads.

All cash purchases have been disabled in Defiance 2050, and Bits purchased before February 24th can still be used right up until the service goes offline. Players will also be able to take advantage of a 95% discount on all in-game items sold for Bits in the Defiance store, server boosts for levelling up skills, item giveaways, and regular server events until April 29th.

The server shutdown means that all of Defiance 2050's achievements will no longer be available to unlock. When Defiance 2050 launched in 2018, it was released with three unobtainable achievements.

Servers for Defiance on Xbox 360 were closed back in May last year, but servers for the PS3 and PC versions remained live. PS3 and PC servers for Defiance will also now close on April 29th alongside the Defiance 2050 closure.

You have until April 29th to grab any remaining achievements from Defiance 2050 before the servers close for good.
