Rugby World Cup 2011 IRFU Licence Confirmed

By Rebecca Smith,
505 Games and HB Studios hold the official license for the Rugby World Cup for them to use in their upcoming game Rugby World Cup 2011. Since the game's announcement in early April, the publisher has been drip-feeding gamers and press alike with individual announcements regarding additional licence agreements.

So far, it has been confirmed that the game will be able to use the kit, emblems, player likenesses and selected stadia for England, France, Wales, Scotland and South Africa. Now, 505 Games has confirmed that they have the licence for the IRFU, or Irish Rugby Football Union for those not in the know. The implementation of the players will even extend to the "inclusion of thigh tape, wrist tape, finger tape and scrum caps."

More licenses are due to be announced "in due course". The game will include all 20 teams that will be playing in the tournament, so don't be surprised if that means that there will be 14 more licenses yet to be confirmed. Interestingly enough, one of the screenshots seems to confirm the use of the New Zealand team too, although that wouldn't be too much of a stretch bearing in mind that they are hosting the Rugby World Cup.

Rugby World Cup 2011 is due to be released on August 26th, 2011.
