Xbox achievements on Windows Phone seem to be unlocking again

By Sean Carey,
Last year, achievements on the Windows Phone platform suddenly stopped working. Numerous reports from players in our forums suggested that achievements unlocked on Windows Phones were no longer syncing to Microsoft's servers, resulting in a lot of missing Gamerscore from users' totals. Now, it appears that the Windows Phone achievement sync issue has been fixed.

Looking at recent unlock data, we see a whole lot of nothing until a sudden spike of achievements unlocked on the Windows Phone on March 8th, followed by another small flurry on March 11th, which is presumably someone on Microsoft's side testing a fix. It looks like a fix was officially rolled out several days later as we then picked up over 15 different gamers unlocking over 200 Windows Phone achievements. We expect this number to rise considerably over the next few days as players rediscover their dust-covered relics of yesteryear and begin firing them up once more.

We have reached out to Microsoft to confirm if the Windows Phone achievement issue has been fixed once and for all, but things are definitely looking promising. If you own a Windows Phone, grab it now and pop some achievements while you can!
