The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf releases 2021 Xbox One Xbox Series X S backwards compatible microids imps publishing deal four smurfs games and tv show

The news comes via Microid's blog, announcing the major partnership with IMPS and solidifying the future of Smurfs in video games. Currently, only The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf has been confirmed, with an expected release later this year. The game is said to be a 3D action-platformer and tasks the Smurfs with facing off against Gargamel in an attempt to save the village. The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf is being developed by Osome Studio for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S via backwards compatibility.

“Working on such a rich franchise that speaks to all generations allows us to create a wide variety of different games: there will be something to suit all tastes!” says Microid's CEO Stéphane Longeard. It sounds like the Smurfs will be joining us through other genres in the future, though we are pretty sure that there’s no mature-rated FPS on the horizon. If you need a Smurfs fix sooner rather than later, then you may be interested in the new Smurfs TV show being released later this year.
