Descenders Xbox Series X|S update coming June 8th

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Mike Rose, otherwise known as 'that No More Robots guy,' has announced that RageSquid's action cycling game Descenders will be getting released on Xbox Series X|S on June 8th. Rose tweeted the announcement and then provided a string of follow-up tweets in a thread the likes of which has not been seen before from a PR person.

So, there are several bits to pick through here. First is the physical and digital release on June 8th. Then, following Rose's hope that gamers like 'games on Series X that show loads and loads of frames every second', he revealed that the game would be 1080p120 or 4k30 on Series X, and 1080p120 or 1440p with an unlocked frame rate on Series S. The reason that the Series X version doesn't have the 60fps is that the 4k is simply too demanding for the smaller team, according to his eighth tweet in the thread.

Aside from the techy stuff, there will be eight-player lobbies and PC cross-play. As referenced in Rose's third and fourth tweets, there are a bunch of visual upgrades coming, too. This includes improvements to draw and shadow distances, better texture resolutions and higher terrain quality, more foliage, and better anti-aliasing. There will be motion blur, and SSAO (screen-space ambient occlusion... what?) has been enabled. The upgraded version of the game will also be free with Game Pass.

No More Robots is publishing the game and is as wacky as Rose. I enjoyed this tweet that was saddled in between the big game announcements:
