SWERY's The Good Life delayed to Q3 2021

By Heidi Nicholas,
SWERY's "debt repayment daily life RPG" The Good Life — which is set in a town where the inhabitants routinely turn into cats and dogs and whose protagonist must also investigate a murder mystery — has suffered another delay, and will now launch in autumn 2021 for Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass.

If you're wondering what on earth is going on in this trailer, so are we — according to the game's Steam page, you'll be up to a lot. You play as Naomi, a photographer moving to the town of Rainy Woods after struggling with debt in New York. You are hired by The Morning Bell newspaper to investigate a mystery of some sorts in Rainy Woods — including how and why its residents turn into cats and dogs at night. But these supernatural shenanigans can't distract you from your debt, which you could pay back by taking photos for the newspaper, or via the far more lucrative opportunity of taking photos "capturing the hottest trends on social app Flamingo." In other words, Naomi has a lot going on.

This isn't the first delay for The Good Life. While unsuccessful on Kickstarter in 2017, The Good Life managed to meet its target in 2018, with a planned release for Q4 2019. This was then delayed to 2020, to summer 2021, and now to autumn. The trailer doesn't appear to mention that The Good Life will be coming to Xbox Game Pass, but according to its Xbox announcement in 2018, it will come to Xbox Game Pass on day one. This latest delay also came alongside an announcement that developer White Owls has partnered with Playism as a new publisher.

What do you think? Will you be heading to Rainy Woods? Let us know in the comments!
