Aliens: Fireteam Elite launching August 24th

By Tom West,
The official Aliens: Fireteam Elite Twitter account has confirmed the game's release date and price after what looked to have been a premature BestBuy store listing.

The news originally came via keen-eyed Twitter user, Wario64, who posted the find earlier today. According to the BestBuy listing, the game would feature a new name variation — Aliens: Fireteam Elite — which is news in itself. The game was advertised with an August 24th release and priced at $39.99 in the US for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, featuring Smart Delivery. Seeing that slimy Xenomorph on the cover makes us want to grab our Pulse Rifles and get blasting already, but it doesn’t look like we’ll need to wait long.

Now, the official Aliens: Fireteam Elite Twitter account has announced the previous details, along with confirmation of the game's revised title. Since we still haven't scanned in store pages for the game yet and four of the five preorder links on their site are dead at the time of writing, it seems like the team's hand was forced to push this news early following BestBuy's little slip-up earlier today. The tweet also contains the preorder trailer, which details the items included in preorder bonus, the Hardened Marine Pack, so that'll be:
  • Bandana Head Accessory
  • Digital Red Weapon Camo
  • Three Weapon Decals
  • Chestburster Emote

It’s certainly the year of co-op survival games, with the likes of Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Evil Dead: The Game, Back 4 Blood, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide all set for release later this year.

Grab some buddies and ride that elevator to hell when Aliens: Fireteam Elite arrives on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on August 24th. Ready to join the bug hunt? Let us know below!
