Halo Infinite Live Team break down seasons and Battle Passes

By Tom West,
In a recent Inside Infinite post on Halo Waypoint, two members of the Halo Infinite Live Team explained what we can expect to find in the game’s trimonthly Seasons, including events, rewards, customisation options, and more.

The recent Halo Infinite Multiplayer Livestream brushed over the game’s seasonal Battle Pass system and the fact that they will be permanent. Now, Ryan Paradis and Chris Blohm of the Halo Infinite Live Team have dived deeper into the systems during a Halo Waypoint interview. The trimonthly Seasons have been a part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection for some time now — such as Season 7, which has just started — and bring a host of content to the game like updates, customisations item, gameplay events, new progression systems, and even more! Halo Infinite will perform in much the same way, adding seasonal content every three months to give players plenty of time to experience the new goodies before being swept into a new season. Blohm says that the team “want players to have cool content, activities, events, and rewards over the course of the season, but we do not want to demand that players play a ton of hours every week of the season to complete everything.”

During each Season, players will be able to experience in-game events aimed at mixing up the activities that are available, and which offer a new free rewards track to earn themed rewards. The team says that we can expect more information about events closer to Halo Infinite’s launch, but we should keep an eye out for a special event type called a “Fracture.” The Yoroi armour that was shown during the Multiplayer Livestream is an example of the thematic rewards available during events such as Fracture through the Battle Pass track.

“We’re working hard to ensure that the Battle Pass isn’t a ‘grind’ for players. We want it to be a supplemental reward stream for the time you were already putting into the game,” says Ryan Paradis. Battle Passes have been confirmed to be permanent so you don’t have a time limit on unlocking the rewards. The team want the Battle Pass to be an extension of your game experience, so if you take a Season off, you can go and purchase it when you feel like giving it a go. Every Pass will have free and premium tracks, so everybody has the opportunity to unlock rewards no matter if they’re paying or not.
