Remedy and 505 Games to create a Control multiplayer spin-off

By Heidi Nicholas,
Remedy and 505 Games have signed a co-publishing and development agreement, with plans to create a multiplayer spin-off of Control.

AWE expansion

Remedy's announcement tells us that the game will be a 4-player co-op PvE, and that it's currently codenamed Condor. Condor will be built on the Northlight engine for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Interestingly, the announcement mentions that "collaboration terms for a future, bigger-budget Control-game" have also been agreed.

Game director Mikael Kasurinen also shared a message about the news. "Control is first and foremost a world, a place for multitudes of stories, events, and characters," Kasurinen says. "A place where unexpected, strange, and extraordinary things occur. We kicked it off with Jesse’s entry into the Oldest House, but there is more to this world. Oh, so much more. And Project Condor will be an expression of that." Kasurinen goes on to add, "We get that there is going to be scepticism about multiplayer. But I believe we can create shared experiences without compromising the unique DNA of who we are, or the stories we want to tell... I’m extremely excited for the future of the Control franchise." Kasurinen's message also confirms that Control merchandise will be available in August on Control's second anniversary. The message ends with a reminder that it'll be some time before we can have a look at either project. We'll be sure to keep an eye out and update you when we do hear more. In the meantime, what do you think of a multiplayer Control spin-off? Let us know in the comments!
