The headline may come off as an April Fool's joke but Capcom and Sanrio have announced, via press release, a partnership to unleash Street Fighter themed Hello Kitty Merchandise. Citing the "dedicated core following" of the two brands, the unique set of merchandise is set to combine the franchises in a "fun and unexpected way."
The merchandise will likely follow the standard Hello Kitty fare with office supplies, apparel, and vinyl figures. Other Sanrio characters in the Hello Kitty line are expected to be represented, such as Badtz Maru and Chococat. You can expect "Hello Kitty X Street Fighter" items to hit Fall 2012.
This is certainly unexpected, but you have to give credit to both companies for having some fun with their beloved franchises. If Hell froze over and this became an actual game, this author would be first in line to pre-order.
The upcoming crossover game Street Fighter X Tekken is set to release sometime in 2012, while Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition arrives via Xbox LIVE Arcade August 24th.
