FIFA 22 Locker Room: What's new this week? (October 15th)

By Kes Eylers-Stephenson,
Welcome to the Locker Room: the place where we get to talk all things FIFA 22 once a week. Here, we round up all the Ultimate Team news. That includes a list of the Team of the Week cards, including our chosen pick, as well as the newest SBCs and the objectives for the week.

Team of the Week

The international breaks have always been a great excuse for EA to give some of the best cards an even better upgrade as big nations wallop the San Marino's of the world. This week is no different. There are five headlining cards this week, with Memphis Depay, Mikel Oyarzabal, Sadio Mané, Thomas Müller, and Keylor Navas all making themselves known to the crowd of upper-80's players. This means we are really starting to see team selections diversify as players can pick and choose what they want from the elite. The Star Player for the week is Alessandro Bastoni, the Inter Milan CB. While the young man is rocking great physical and defensive stats, you might have trouble using him in a back four as there isn't enough mobility with his low pace, agility, and balance. That being said, I have been using Niklas Süle from Bayern to great effect, and that gentleman is built like a brick outhouse.

Our Pick: Theo Hernandez (86 — LWB — AC Milan)

There is a ludicrous amount this week and I was really tempted to give you Josko Gvardiol, the 81-rated centre-back with outstanding pace, defending, and physicality from RB Leipzig. Seriously, a guaranteed bit of dynamite for around 40k? That is stupid. However, Theo Hernandez has to get this spot for being a guaranteed starter in any Serie A squad. The guy scored the winner against Belgium to guarantee a Nations League final for France, and the card he has received is just outstanding. 95 Pace, 79 Defending, and 84 Physicality are a great start, but this guy has the crossing, short passing, and dribbling stats to make him a beast down your left-hand side. At the moment he is trading for just over 200k: but make no mistake, there is a strong argument that he is the best LB in the game right now.

This week there are plenty of great talents on offer. We have picked the currently available SBCs and priced them, as per FUTbin's amazing listings. Florian Wirtz received an 86-rated CAM card as part of his Bundesliga POTM award. Though I'm seeing that the SBC is worth around 52k, I think it can probably be done for a lot less. You also have two days left to unlock Samuel Umtiti's 85-rated Flashback card for around 70-80k. Frankly, the cost is not really worth the card, but the poorly managed Barca man deserves some love. Myron Boadu managed to nab a OTW card, somehow. It's worth an easy 15k right now, but there is no doubt that this man is going to get at least one upgrade. So, if you have cash for a young pacy forward in the Frech top-tier, get your business done in the next few hours of this article releasing!

Objectives and Misc.

There is only one objective, this week. The Silver Lounge player is Olsen, a 74 rated LW from Bologna. The objectives require you to play the aforementioned Friendly and win three, score eight, and assist six goals. The above OTW cards are out of packs when you are reading this, but will be available on the transfer market. In addition, EA is releasing Path to Glory Cards that should be revealed by the time that this article is live. Here is the link to the Twitter account used to reveal all the information.

But what will you be grabbing this week? Any player taking your fancy? Agree with our Player Pick from the TOTW? Let us know in the comments!
