Capcom has confirmed that its latest instalment in the Resident Evil franchise has reached another milestone, with Resident Evil Village having shipped over five million units globally, including digital download sales.

The news comes as part of Capcom's latest financial results. "In addition to providing a sense of scale that outdoes its predecessor, as well as storytelling that rises above the genre of horror games, this title was lauded for featuring a higher degree of action and even more expansive, highly engaging gameplay," Capcom says. "Utilizing the company's proprietary RE Engine, which made a simultaneous release on both the new and current generation of consoles possible, the game captivated players with a spectacular play experience featuring stunning, photorealistic visuals and cutting-edge 3D audio. This led worldwide shipments of the game to surpass five million units at a quicker pace than its preceding entry in the series."

It's been pretty quiet in Resident Evil news, aside from the fact that Resident Evil Re:Verse has been delayed until 2022, while in the Kickstarter world, a Resident Evil board game neared $1 million in funding after just its first day. If you're yet to try out Resident Evil Village, don't forget it's currently included in the Xbox Shocktober sale! What do you think of Resident Evil Village's achievement?
