TrueAchievements server maintenance is complete

By Rich Stone,
Update: The server move is now complete. Thank you for your patience.

Original Story: Last month, we had some site downtime while we replaced one of our main servers after experiencing various hardware issues causing errors with our database.

Unfortunately we continued to see issues on the replacement server. To remedy this, we've taken some expert advice, and ordered an even more powerful server from a completely different manufacturer. We'll be moving all the databases to the new server tomorrow, January 18th.

While we back up and restore the data, we will have to put the site into 'read-only' mode, and turn off the Xbox scanners.

The site will still be online, but it will be placed in 'read-only' mode to avoid any data loss while we carry out the move.

This means:
  • Scanners will be turned off — your achievements and Gamerscore won't be updated during the move
  • No posting of solutions
  • No commenting on Friend Feeds
  • No posting in the forums or on news items
  • No voting on solutions
  • No rating of games
  • No setting of completion estimates
  • No gamer goal creation
  • No status updates
  • etc.
The work is due to start at 9.15am UTC, and we expect that everything should be back up and running by around 11am.

Note: When the scanners are running again, they will collect any achievements you won during the downtime... there's no need to stop gaming!

Thank you for your patience during this time, and we are hopeful this will be the final move for at least a year!

Yo! Rich here - I was the one that created TrueAchievements back in 2008 as I felt the Xbox Gamerscore system could be improved. The site has evolved massively since then and it's now the biggest and best Xbox community on the planet! Racing games and open world shooters are my thing, but I'll give most genres a go. Except RPGs - those things are evil.
