Free games, free gamerscore...if you have a Windows Phone 7 device. WPCentral.com
has gotten the first details and screens of two Xbox LIVE titles for WP7, Minesweeper
by developer Babaroga, published by Microsoft Game Studios. Although we have a free Xbox LIVE title for WP7 already, Flowerz
, these will be the first on WP7 to only feature 50 gamerscore (each), much like the recent Kinect Fun Labs
As you can see, the game features the Metro UI look seen on the phone's OS and in a lot of the apps; a simple design that is clean and crisp. You'll also notice a Bing search bar, as well as Bing backgrounds in the menus, likely Microsoft's way of justifying giving away two free titles (besides brand strengthening, of course). This is also the first time in quite some time
that there are two Xbox LIVE WP7 releases in one week.
Another little nugget that can be taken away from these screens, is the "tokens" feature. Could this be like the add-on content for Beards and Beaks
, where powerups were either locked for a few hours or could be purchased with MSP if you're impatient? It's possible that the tokens may be related to the Bing integration, and that searches could possibly earn you tokens for in-game powerups.
Either way, we'll know for sure in less than a week, when Minesweeper
are released on August 10th.
