Xbox Game Pass surpasses 25 million subscribers

Xbox Game Pass has now amassed 25 million subscribers, according to Xbox head Phil Spencer who revealed the new figure in Microsoft's Activision Blizzard acquisition announcement.

It would have been pretty easy to miss the Xbox Game Pass subscriber count that was mentioned during Phil Spencer's recent Xbox Wire post — you know, the one that casually let us all know that Microsoft is finalising the deal to acquire Activision Blizzard. But it was there, buried beneath the excitement, and 25 million is certainly not a number to turn your nose up at, and it's seven million more than the 18 million subscribers Microsoft reported in January 2021.

If you standardise the 25 million Xbox Game Pass subscribers to just the base subscription model, which costs $9.99 a month then they alone would generate just under $3 billion yearly for the company. That obviously doesn't incorporate the many players that use the $1 Game Pass conversion trick or subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $14.99 a month, opening up access to both the console and PC Game Pass libraries, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and EA Play.

Xbox Game Pass' upcoming additions have also reportedly leaked, and it looks like Death's Door, Taiko no Tatsujin: The DrumMaster, and more are coming to the service soon.
