Gears of War could get remastered collection similar to Halo: MCC

A new rumour currently doing the rounds suggests a Microsoft franchise (possibly the Gears of War) could be getting a remastered collection similar to the Halo: Master Chief Collection.

The rumour comes from XboxEra's Nick Baker, who on the latest episode of The XboxEra Podcast, said he'd been told about a Microsoft franchise getting a remastered collection. "I've been told there is another Microsoft franchise — I'm not allowed to say the franchise — that will be getting the Master Chief Collection treatment, is probably the best way to describe it," Baker said. "Timelines, I'm not sure," Baker continued. "I don't know if that's a thing that will be this year, next year, or whatever it is. Probably, I would guess next year, but I don't know timelines right now — just that there will be another Microsoft franchise getting that Master Chief Collection treatment. A collection of all the games, all done up, all bundled into one."

With Baker saying he was unable to name the franchise, The Verge's Tom Warren later tweeted that "the gears are really turning on this rumour," further fuelling speculation that Baker could be talking about the Gears of War franchise. Others across social media are also speculating that the Fable series could be getting the Master Chief Collection treatment.

Of course, it's worth managing expectations here and taking all of this rumour with a heavy pinch of salt until Microsoft makes an official announcement.
