Dead Island Has Gone Gold, Shows New Trailer

This time next month, Techland's melee-focused first person open world light-RPG (quite the genre, yes?) Dead Island finally releases. Today that was confirmed, as Dead Island has "gone gold" and has been shipped to manufacturing.

The news is very exciting for anyone who has been following the game since it first surfaced back in 2008. After a long lull in any news whatsoever fans assumed the game development had ceased. However, the game came back from the dead and received universal acclaim while it simultaneously gained a horde of fans after showing their cinematic trailer earlier this year. When they announced the game would release this September, it all finally became real.

Today, the folks at Techland have put together a new trailer showcasing their four player co-op. Fans of Left 4 Dead and Borderlands will be especially excited, as Dead Island focuses on efficient teamwork to survive. The trailer also highlights the four player choices, Sam B, Purna, Logan, and Xian Mei.



Kick, smash, slice, and bludgeon your way to safety when Dead Island hits stores about a month from today, September 6th in the US, and September 9th everywhere else.
