Fortnite raises a total $144 million for Ukraine relief

By Sean Carey,
Epic Games' two-week Fortnite fundraiser has now come to an end, with both Epic and Microsoft raising a massive $144 million for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

Epic Games will be donating the funds raised from real-money purchases in Fortnite to five humanitarian relief organisations: Direct Relief, UNICEF, UN World Food Program, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and World Central Kitchen. Epic says that these five charities have been "on the ground providing emergency aid, including health support, food and clean water, essential supplies, legal aid, and shelter."

Epic's fundraiser started on March 20th, which was the same day Fortnite's Chapter 3 Season 2 began. After just 24 hours, Epic raised $36 million. Microsoft joined Epic in contributing its net Fortnite proceeds from sales on the Microsoft Store for the same two-week period.

In other news, World of Tanks developer Wargaming recently announced its decision to pull out from both Russia and Belarus.
