At this point, fighting game fans need to give Atlus a little credit. After the critically-panned and highly disappointing The King of Fighters XII
seemed to set their flagship franchise back a few years, Atlus went back to the drawing board. We have already seen King of Fighters 13
in action with a gameplay trailer
. Further evidence that Atlus went back to the drawing board with King of Fighters 13
? Witness this video demonstrating the moveset of fan favorite, Kyo Kusanagi.
First off, the zoom is not nearly as intense with the fighters looking normal, compared to the zoomed in, screen filling look of King of Fighters 12
. Secondly, you will note Kyo is representing "Team Japan." King of Fighters 13
brings back the three person teams the franchise was based upon when it first debuted for the Neo-Geo a long, long time ago yet noticeably absent from King of Fighters 12
Regardless, the game looks to be an improvement over the last installment. We will all know for ourselves just how much is improved when King of Fighters 13
is released on October 25th in North America and October 27th in Japan.
A European release date has yet to be announced.
