Remedy provides updates on Alan Wake 2 and new Control games

By Sean Carey,

Remedy has provided updates on its currently-in-development roster of titles, including Alan Wake 2, the newly-announced Max Payne 1&2 remake, a spin-off Control game, a "bigger Control game," and more.

Remedy recently published its results for the past financial year, and to keep investors informed, Remedy CEO Tero Virtala provided a 'game roadmap' with updates on five upcoming games from the developer.

According to Virtala, Alan Wake 2 is "in the full production stage," and the game is "starting to make a more complete form in many areas." Virtala also said that Alan Wake 2 is still down for a 2023 release.

As for Control, Remedy has two games based on the IP in the works. One, which is codenamed 'Condor,' is a spin-off that is in the proof-of-concept stage. The other is codenamed 'Heron,' and Virtala describes it as a "bigger Control game" that's in "the concept stage and its prototyping continues."

Virtala then talks about Vanguard, Remedy's free-to-play multiplayer shooter that's being co-published by Tencent. Virtala says Vanguard "has made good progress since the previous quarter" and that the project, much like that 'bigger Control game,' is in the proof-of-concept stage. Remedy is also continuing to "strengthen" the Vanguard team, Virtala says.

Finally, Virtala also provides the briefest of comments on the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake project, which is being developed by Remedy and published by Rockstar Games. "The public reception to this announcement was overwhelmingly positive," Virtala notes in the report. "Max Payne clearly has a special place in the hearts of not only Remedians but gamers across the globe. We are very excited to bring the remade game for old and new fans alike." Both games, which will be released as a single title, are in the concept development stage, so it will be a while before we see them.
