Capcom showcases new Resident Evil 4 remake gameplay

By Sean Carey,

During the Capcom Showcase, we were given a new, albeit incredibly brief, look at the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake's gameplay, which is down to launch for Xbox Series X|S on March 24th, 2023.

In the presentation, we get glimpses of Resident Evil 4's ganado, which have been "completely redesigned," and we see the iconic over-the-shoulder camera return as Leon carefully makes his way through what appears to be an early part of the game.

Resident Evil 4 developer gameplay overview

"Similar to other titles in the series, we are carefully preserving what makes the original title special while updating it with modern flourishes for everyone to enjoy when it launches in 2023," producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said. "Leon arrives at a dense and dangerous forest. We want to nail the feeling of loneliness and fear of not knowing what lies ahead, even more so than the original. Of course, there will also be thrilling battles.

"People that played the recent Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 should find this familiar."

As spotted by IGN, at the 1:45 mark, it seems that you will be able to aim your gun while moving, which is quite a significant change in terms of gameplay compared to the original Resident Evil 4. In the original game, you have to come to a complete stop and be rooted in place before being able to aim your gun.

Resident Evil 4 launches for Xbox Series X|S on March 24th, 2023.
