Delisted Metal Gear games will return to digital stores soon

By Sean Carey,

Konami is gearing up to "resume sales" of Metal Gear titles that were previously delisted from digital storefronts, which likely means Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for Xbox 360 will soon return to the Xbox Store.

In a tweet that marks the 35th anniversary of the original Metal Gear series, Konami also revealed that it will soon relist Metal Gear games that were delisted from stores.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection likely to be relisted on Xbox Store soon

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection

"The 'Metal Gear' series released on July 13th, 1987, celebrated its 35th anniversary today," Konami wrote. "We are preparing to resume sales of titles that have been temporarily suspended."

Last year, Konami pulled Metal Gear Solid HD Collection from the Xbox Store as it had to renew expired licenses for historical archive footage used in Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3. A statement from Konami at the time read:

"We are currently working on renewing the licenses for select historical archive footage used in-game, therefore, we have made the temporary decision to begin suspending the sale of Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 and all products that include these games from digital storefronts globally starting from November 8th, 2021."

While Konami doesn't directly name Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 in its latest tweet, it is likely referring to those two games. Several different versions of the games on various platforms were all pulled back in November, including Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for Xbox 360. With any luck, we'll soon be able to purchase this classic collection of games once more. No date has been given for when the game will be relisted, but we'll update you as soon as we find out more.
