Assassin's Creed Rift could be set in Baghdad

By Heidi Nicholas,

According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, the next Assassin's Creed game will be Assassin's Creed Rift, and will take place in Baghdad.

On Reddit, Schreier replied to a post to refute a claim made by YouTuber ACG that the next Assassin's Creed game will feature Aztecs or an Aztec setting.

Schreier says the next Assassin's Creed game will be set in Baghdad

"The next AC game is Rift, which is set in Baghdad," Schreier explained, and linked to a Bloomberg article from February that claimed the next game was codenamed Rift, and that it features Basim, as it had initially been intended as an expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

"After that will be AC Infinity, and while that's going to include a bunch of different games/experiences/biomes/whatever you want to call them, I've heard about the main two and neither of them are Aztec," Schreier concludes.

It was back in July of 2021 that Ubisoft discussed an "important upcoming, early-in-development project codenamed Assassin’s Creed Infinity", and we know that Ubisoft will "unveil the future of Assassin's Creed" in September, so there's not too long to wait before we can expect more news.

In the meantime, what do you think of the possibility of Assassin's Creed Rift being set in Baghdad? What are you hoping to see for the "future of Assassin's Creed?" Let us know in the comments!
