Black Knight Sword Announced for XBLA

Gamescom hasn't really seen that many new game announcements so far, with only Dontnod Entertainment's Adrift being revealed so far. Suda 51's studio Grasshopper Manufacture now doubles the number of announcements so far with their first ever digitally distributed title, Black Knight Sword, which is destined for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

A throwback to the classic platformers for the 8 and 16-bit era of games, Black Knight Sword harkens a simpler time when simple yet addictive and challenging gameplay dominated the scene. Join the Black Knight in this fairy tale quest to defeat the Evil White Princess in an imaginative world brought to life in true Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda 51 style.
Digital Reality has also partnered with the studio to help develop the game, and has added a European influence; the same partnership is responsible for Sine Mora, the latest trailer of which can be found here. Black Knight Sword draws on the style of the old puppet theatres and scrolling picture books from childhood years gone by, and has added a modern spin to this theme; this shows in the following screenshots.

"Black Knight Sword's theme was inspired by puppetry and theater. From the title screen you'll feel like your part of the audience of a twisted fairy tale brought to life."

"The Evil Princess will stop at nothing to destroy the Black Knight, even sending other knights out to defeat him."
