Overwatch loot boxes will only be sold for a few more weeks

Blizzard has confirmed that loot boxes won't be available for sale once the Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event ends later this month.

Overwatch's Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event is live now, and runs for the next few weeks until August 30th. Blizzard has also confirmed that loot boxes won't be sold after the end of this event.

Overwatch will stop selling loot boxes later this month

The Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event kicked off yesterday, and Blizzard says we can "earn and purchase Anniversary loot boxes throughout the event! Each loot box has a chance to contain items from past Anniversary and seasonal events; don’t wait too long to snag those skins you’ve been eyeing for the past year, though," the devs add. "Loot boxes will no longer be available for sale after the end of the Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event on August 30th. However, you will still be able to earn standard loot boxes after the end of the event." A note adds that loot boxes "will open automatically before the launch of Overwatch 2." We knew that Overwatch 2 won't feature loot boxes — "instead, the modernised live service will give our players the power to shape their own experiences."

The Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event, meanwhile, may be your last chance to grab some achievements before Overwatch evolves into Overwatch 2.

Loot boxes won't be available for sale in Overwatch after August 30th — what do you think of this news? Let us know in the comments!
