River City Girls 2 is the latest in a long line of games to get clobbered with a delay, with developer WayForward announcing that the retro-inspired sequel will not hit its original "late summer 2022" launch window.
River City Girls 2 developer WayForward shared news of the beat-'em-up's delay on Twitter. "To ensure the most polished experience possible, River City Girls 2 will be launching in North America sometime after its originally expected late summer 2022 release window," it said, later clarifying in the replies that the delay also affects other territories, not just the US. No new launch target was given, just a request for fans to "stay tuned for a new release date." On the plus side, the team did also share the awesome boxart, so it's not all bad news.
River City Girls 2 delayed
When the game does eventually release, you'll be able to see this neat art in the real world, too — River City Girls 2 is one of ten titles announced to be getting a physical release through Limited Run Games. It's not up on their store just yet, but keep an eye out if you'd like to try and bag yourself a copy.
Sadly, we'll be waiting a little longer to play the sequel to the excellent River City Girls, but we're sure it'll be worth the wait. In the meantime, WayForward did confirm that River City Girls Zero — a localisation of an old Japan-only Super Famicom release in the Kunio-kun series — is still on track for a summer release, so we'll have that to keep us busy. Looking forward to these? Let us know!
