Alone in the Dark reboot revealed by THQ Nordic

By Luke Albigés,

Alone in the Dark is set to make a return, with THQ Nordic officially announcing the reboot at its Digital Showcase following retailer leaks earlier today that revealed the existence of the survival horror comeback.

Original Alone in the Dark protagonists Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby will still be in the starring roles, but this otherwise looks to be a pretty thorough reimagining of the 1992 classic survival horror trailblazer. Horror master Mikael Hedberg (Soma, Amnesia: The Dark Descent) is penning the game, which is a promising start, while Jason Köhnen is working on the awesome doom jazz soundtrack you can get a taste for in the rather good reveal trailer below.

Alone in the Dark reboot announced

"A technical marvel when it first launched in 1992, Alone in the Dark set the standards for immersive horror adventures to come," says THQ Nordic's Liz Pieri. "Developer Pieces Interactive is returning to the franchise’s roots in terms of setting while updating and reimagining the game for a new generation of players."

Alone in the Dark will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5, although we don't yet have a release window. Excited to see more from this reboot of a survival horror classic? Let us know!
