Hitman 3's roguelike freelancer mode delayed into 2023

Hitman 3's previously announced Freelancer mode is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in January 2023, following yet another delay.

IO Interactive has confirmed that Freelancer mode, which was first announced during Hitman 3: Year 2 and slated for a spring 2022 release will now launch in full on January 26th, 2023, via a free update for all users, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Hitman 3 Freelancer closed technical test kicks off in November

Next month, select players on Steam will be invited to the Hitman 3 Freelancer closed technical test, which will allow them to play a number of the mode's core features, such as customising safehouses, unlocking mastery, and taking down syndicate leaders. This will allow IOI to stress test the game's servers and implement balancing tweaks before the mode rolls out to "all Hitman 3 owners" on January 26th, 2023.

Freelancer will arrive via a free update, and while it'll include all of the features listed during the Year 2 announcement, the devs have also decided to include "almost all locations from the World of Assassination from day one."

You can play Hitman, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3 with an Xbox Game Pass subscription, so presuming the trilogy is still in the service when Freelancer drops, you should be able to enjoy the update without issue.
