I am pleased to announce a new sponsor for TrueAchievements.com - http://www.gamers247.co.uk
The site is a UK based game and dvd retailer, and here is a little bit more about them, from the store owner himself, dW01F
:http://www.gamers247.co.uk is proud to be sponsoring trueachievements.com, I believe it is the best achievements website available and the only "true" way gamerscore should be calculated.
As a games retailer you need to have a passion for games. A lot of the games shops I have used in the past are just retailers and that's it...They know nothing about games and it feels cold buying from them, as if i was buying from any other non-games retailer.
As a fellow gamer I have used my passion for games (all those late nights playing counter-strike, halo, rainbow six and mmorpg's) to form http://www.gamers247.co.uk
I personally started off as a PC gamer when i was about 10 and quickly expanded my horizons to console gaming, my current console is... yes you guessed it an XBOX 360!
It is this love of gaming I share with my customers on a daily basis wherever they may be in the world.
I hope that you will consider http://www.gamers247.co.uk when you next decide to buy a game, we stock recent releases as well as a lot of back catalogue titles which may be harder to find elsewhere.
I try to make the product listings informative and injected with my own personality, and also aim to keep prices as low as possible.
We are not simply another retail giant, in it because games are suddenly becoming more popular and want to make a quick buck (pound), I am in it for the long haul...that is until i see those dreaded words flashing before me - "GAME OVER"!
You can find me most days working hard on the http://www.gamers247.co.uk website or equally as hard on my gamerscore, so feel free to drop me a line anytime...my gamertag is dW01F.
In the near future we will be running some competitions in conjunction with the trueachievements website, and there will be some decent prizes on offer in an attempt to give something back to the gaming community.
I hope that our relationship with trueachievements.com will be a long and prosperous one.
I hope you will consider using them for your next purchases, by supporting http://www.gamers247.co.uk
you are also supporting TrueAchievements so please check them out.
I also want to mention that I finally got around to having a big database clean up today. I have removed over 7,000 gamers (and their achievements) that either have invalid gamertags or have their privacy settings turned on.
This may mean a bit of a jump or fall in some of the TA scores tomorrow, it's something I've been meaning to do for ages and will happen automatically from now on so it won't be such a huge amount of data removal next time.
Some of you may have found the site slow today, and the database cleanup was the reason for that, so I would like to apologise - the good thing is that each scanner now has 2000 less gamers on it to check which should speed things up by about 25%!
The other thing I have done in preperation for the new Boosting Session code (woohoo!), is to turn off Daylight Saving time on the server. It's important that the times are correct for everyone across their timezone if we are trying to organise a session. That means that UK based users should go to their settings page and choose GTM+1 for their current setting.
