One of the touted features of Rugby Challenge
was its array of licenses
, which recently added the United States squad
to its list. At the time though, those in the United States wanting to play as their home country would have to count on importing the game as no North American release was announced.
Today however, we learned that Rugby Challenge
will be making its way to North America, and will be published by Mad Catz. Yes, you read correctly, Mad Catz is stepping in to give Rugby World Cup 2011
some competition in North America. The game will be marketed as Jonah Lomu's Rugby Challenge
, sharing the same title as most of the world. This isn't the first bit of news of Mad Catz branching out, as the company is also working on re-releasing Rock Band 3
and accompanying instruments this fall.
This announcement has come bundled with a new making-of video, showcasing Jonah Lomu's involvement in the game, and new screens.
The North American release for Jonah Lomu's Rugby Challenge
is set for sometime in September, while we now have some confirmed dates in other regions. New Zealand will get their rugby action on September 2nd with the exclusive title All Blacks Rugby Challenge
, and the game will be released on September 8th in Australia as Wallabies Rugby Challenge
. A release window has not been announced for Europe as of yet, but we'll let you know as soon as the information is available.
