Remedy also announced it has signed a co-development and co-publishing deal with 505 Games for the sequel and that Control 2 has an initial development budget of €50 million. The game, which is currently in the concept stage, will be built on Remedy's proprietary Northlight engine. In a separate blog post, Mikael Kasurinen, game director of the Control franchise, said, "With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us. "With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait." Remedy has numerous other projects on the go. We know that the developer is currently working on a Control multiplayer spin-off, Alan Wake II, and remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2.
