New Vessel Trailer

The Xbox LIVE Arcade Marketplace is starting to become a home away from home for independent developers. Strange Loop Games' Vessel is a 2D action puzzler that was a finalist in the technical excellence category at the 2010 Independent Game Festival. The game was also a finalist in the 2010 Independent Game Challenge. Due to this high praise, the game was signed by IndiePub Games, one of Zoo Publishing's subsidiary labels. Now, IndiePub is helping Vessel to make the leap from an independent game to a full release on Xbox LIVE Arcade, just like they are helping Storm to make the same leap.

Players take on the role of Arkwright, who has invented a species of living liquid creatures called Fluros. The Fluros can take on most liquid forms, such as water, lava, glowing goo and chemicals, and they have unique abilities that include melting, reforming, and re-growing lost limbs, depending on their liquid properties. However, the Fluros are not behaving as they should, and have turned on their users and disrupted machinery across the world. Players must create, manipulate, mix together and destroy the Fluros while operating the complex machinery to solve the puzzles that will allow them to restore order. Through four worlds, Arkwright will have to repair the damage caused on every worksite that employs his Fluros before he can complete his next great invention: The Device.

Don't let the screenshots fool you though. The world of Vessel is not always dark and gloomy, as seen in this new trailer that will be appearing at PAX Prime 2011 over this coming weekend.

Vessel is due to be released this Holiday season and will cost 1200 MSP.
