Slime Rancher 2's first major content update arrives in early 2023

We now know what to expect in Slime Rancher 2's upcoming major content updates — the first, arriving early next year, takes us to a "mysterious, glacial island off the coast of Ember Valley known as Powderfall Bluffs." According to Monomi Park, "As if it were a giant, icy time capsule, Beatrix will discover a thriving community of prehistoric Saber Slimes and Thundercluck chickens within, as well as a treasure trove of new resources for crafting and strange, auroral anomalies scattered about the zone."

Monomi Park explains that its aim is to make each update give players a "clear reason" to come back to the game. It sounds as though, then, these content updates could all be fairly big but quite spaced out — the second major update "will take time to develop" but will include a number of "new features that build upon a lot of the core activities in Slime Rancher, enriching the experience you know and love... allowing players to return to Slime Rancher 2 and experience many parts of the game in new ways." Monomi park adds that it feels this second big content update will "pay huge dividends on the overall experience with Slime Rancher 2 for all updates to come."

After that, "Beatrix’s adventure will finally take her into the massive and mysterious Grey Labyrinth that blocks her progress across the furthest reaches of the island. And though its purpose and history remain unknown, it's clear that the key to unlocking the secrets of Rainbow Island lie beyond its walls."

Slime Rancher 2 has already had a great start — smashing game director Nick Popovich's "pipe dream" for sales — and it's great to hear we have all these new updates to look forward to. Which one are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments, and don't forget to check out all the games coming to Game Pass throughout the rest of the year and beyond, to see what else is on the horizon!
