Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 launched last week, and in just five days, the free-to-play battle royale game has seen more than 25 million players drop into Al Mazrah.

As per the Call of Duty Twitter account, 25 million players have played Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 in the first five days after its free-to-play release on November 16th.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 player numbers

The original Call of Duty: Warzone saw over 15 million players in its first four days and over 30 million in its first ten days, so it appears Warzone 2.0 is on track to smash previous records set by the original game. However, it should be noted that the original Warzone, renamed Warzone Caldera, has been taken offline until November 28th, so players currently only have the sequel available to them.

Since Warzone 2.0's launch, we've seen a huge jump in the number of players for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (which the battle royale is attached to) in our Xbox gameplay chart data. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II occupies first place in our chart, and with the launch of Warzone 2.0, Modern Warfare II now has almost triple the player count of Fortnite in second, suggesting that it may remain at the top for some time.

In other Call of Duty news, Microsoft says it offered Sony a ten-year deal to keep the Call of Duty franchise on PlayStation consoles.

Have you jumped into Warzone 2.0? Do you think it should occupy a space on our best free Xbox games list? What are your thoughts on the game compared to the OG Warzone? Let us know down in the comments.
