During Halo Fest yesterday, Turn 10 Studios revealed that Halo
's iconic vehicle, the M12 FAV (Force Application Vehicle), better known as the "Warthog", will be appearing in their upcoming Forza Motorsport 4
This particular variant of the Warthog will be the same model that will feature in the new Halo 4
game schedule for release in 2012, and will give gamers their first detailed views of the new vehicle.
The Warthog will be an unlockable feature in the game's autovista mode, as an interactive vehicle. Players will be able to use the Kinect controller to move around the vehicle, popping the hood, opening doors, entering the driving seat, and even starting it up.
However, before getting too excited, it is worth Microsoft and Turn 10 studios, have been very quick to point out to fans that the vehicle will not be driveable at all in the game. In fact, according to Microsoft, the Warthog will be a "very well hidden easter egg".
Personally, I'm not sure about the Warthog's inclusion. On one hand, it's nice to see, and I do think they've missed a trick with it not being driveable. It could have been fun having Warthog only races, and throwing it around the Top Gear track. However, on the other hand, I always thought of Forza Motorsport
as being a serious racing game featuring real world cars, of which the Warthog is certainly not.Forza Motorsport 4
will be released on October 11th, 2011 in North America, October 14th, 2011 in Europe, and October 20th, 2011 in other territories.
