Gotham Knights Heroic Assault free update adds four-player co-op and seven achievements

By Luke Albigés,

Gotham Knights' major free update swoops in today, adding the new four-player Heroic Assault endgame activity, Showdown versions of the game's main bosses, and seven new achievements.

The Heroic Assault achievement list for Gotham Knights doesn't give a whole lot away as all the achievements are secret. Still, that's rather fitting as we still don't really know exactly what Heroic Assault is, beyond simply being a four-player co-op endgame activity that takes the form of some kind of arena-based wave/horde mode. The seven new achievements are worth a total of 195 Gamerscore, and you can reveal the secrets here.

Four-player co-op will be restricted to just this new Heroic Assault activity, so campaign co-op will remain a two-player affair and you'll have to hit the new mode if you want to get the whole Batfamily together. A Twitter update from the team tells us that we can expect the update to go live at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm GMT / 5pm CET, as well as hinting at the involvement of Starro — a wonderfully weird intergalactic starfish supervillain from the ever-expanding DC universe — in the new mode.

With any luck, the update might also do something about the game's rather rough performance, as lamented in our Gotham Knights review. While weaker than previous modern Batman releases and not quite up there with the best Xbox open world games, Gotham Knights can still be a pretty good time, so fingers crossed this free update proves to be a fairly meaty addition that can keep fans busy.

Planning on hitting up Gotham Knights' new four-player co-op mode in search of some new achievements? Let us know!
