Overwatch 2 devs detail everything coming in Season 2

By Heidi Nicholas,

Season 2 of Overwatch 2 brings a wave of new content, including a new map, a new limited-time event, a new Battle Pass, and more.

Season 2 of Overwatch 2 begins on December 6th, and Blizzard has shared a look at what's to come with a new trailer and more details.

Overwatch 2's second Season begins on December 6th

Season 2 is themed around Greek mythology, and will introduce the new Battle for Olympus game mode which will run from January 5th until January 19th. Before that, we'll have the return of the Winter Wonderland event from December 13th until January 4th, and the Lunar New Year event from January 17th until February 1st, "both with new and improved rewards." These events will also each have a skin you can earn through completing challenges, such as the Epic Ice Queen Brigitte, Legendary Winged Victory Mercy, and Legendary Kkachi Echo.

We already knew about the new Overwatch 2 hero Ramattra, but Season 2 also brings a new map, a new map pool, and more. The new Escort map is Shambali Monastery, which Blizzard says is the "one-time home of Zenyatta and Ramattra." December 6th also brings balance changes for Sojourn, Doomfist, Ana, Bastion, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Mercy, and Symmetra.

Blizzard also has plans for "catch up hero challenges," so newer players or those who missed Kiriko "can unlock new heroes by selecting the Challenge for the hero they want to unlock, which sends you into the Practice Range to learn their abilities, and ultimately challenges you to win games of Overwatch." Then there's the new Battle Pass, with the Premium Battle Pass featuring a new Mythic skin for Junker Queen with new customisations, voice lines, and more.
