What games could leave Xbox Game Pass in March 2023?

By Sean Carey,

As much as we'd all love them to stay, games don't stick around in Game Pass forever unless they're a first-party title. To help get the most out of your gaming time, here's a list of titles that could leave Game Pass in March.

Sadly, with all of the exciting new games coming to Game Pass, older titles have to be removed to make way for the new. Most games tend to stay in Game Pass for around 12-24 months, and we've taken a look through some of the games that might be on the chopping block in March to give you an idea of what to focus on before Microsoft comes knocking with an official announcement.

12 months

TUNIC

Usually, most games remain in Game Pass for a period of 12 months before they're given the boot. All of the games in the list below joined Game Pass this time last year, which means as of March, they would have spent a year in the service and could likely leave soon.
March was quite a big month for Game Pass in 2022, with some excellent titles joining the service. Overall, some of the 18 games listed above could drop out of Game Pass soon. A Memoir Blue, Norco, Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition, Kraken Academy!!, and FAR: Changing Tides are all relatively quick and easy completions, so you may want to leave those for last and focus on other longer games, such as Tunic, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos, and others. Norco will likely stay in the service longer, however, as it was the PC version that joined back in March 2022 — it may stick around for longer, considering the console version landed in the service just a few months back. The console version of Crusader Kings 3 also joined Game Pass a year ago as of March, but it might end up staying for longer, considering the Windows version of the game has been in the service for well over two years now. The same also applies to Tainted Grail: Conquest.

18 months

Marvel heroes

Games also drop out of Game Pass after 18 months in the service. Several games still remain in Game Pass today after joining back in September 2021.
Right off the bat, it should be noted that Aragami 2 was set to leave Game Pass in September, but it was given an extension. We're not sure how long the game will remain in Game Pass (probably until September 2023 if we had to guess), but as of March, it would have been in the service for 18 months — do with that information what you will. Elsewhere, Superliminal has a completion estimate of around ten hours (excluding DLC), Marvel's Avengers around 120 hours, and the Surgeon Simulator stacks will take you in excess of 50 hours each. Crown Trick and Nuclear Throne both feature unobtainables.

24 months

Octopath Traveler Achievements

Most of the games that joined Game Pass two years ago have already left, but there are still a few stragglers hanging on.
Aside from Genesis Noir, all the games here have pretty chunky completion estimates, with the longest being Octopath Traveler (100-120 hours). Yakuza 6 joined back in March 2021, but Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have seen a lot of success with the Yakuza series in Game Pass, and not too long ago, brought Yakuza 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2 back to the service after leaving, so it's likely that Yakuza 6 will stay, but you never know!

Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid Achievements

Next, we come to games that are still in Game Pass after a whopping three years. Again, most games which joined back in March 2020 have already left, but there are a couple of stalwarts here.
We don't have enough achievement data to give you a completion estimate for completing Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid, but the fighting game is known for being a tough completion that requires a lot of grinding. Pikuniku, on the other hand, is much easier and takes around five hours to unlock all achievements.

TWD: Michonne EP3 3

Finally, we come to the Game Pass faithful — games that have been in the service for four years as of March 2023.
We think it will be unlikely that The Walking Dead: Michonne will leave Game Pass in March, considering the Windows version of the game was announced for Game Pass back in November — though it didn't quite materialise. Still, we've included it here just so you're aware.

While we're waiting on Microsoft's official announcement for the second batch of games to leave Game Pass in February, here is our article from last month: What games could leave Xbox Game Pass in February 2023?

Will you be starting any of these on the off chance they might leave Game Pass in March? Let us know down in the comments!
