Hogwarts Legacy sells over 12 million copies in two weeks without Xbox One, PS4 versions

By Tom West,

Warner Bros. Games has announced that Hogwarts Legacy has sold over 12 million copies in its first two weeks, generating more than $850 million.

Hogwarts Legacy has had an extremely positive start since launching on Xbox Series X|S on February 10th, and Warner Bros has now revealed that it's sold 12 million copies across all platforms and has generated over $850 million. If you play on Xbox One, you can expect Hogwarts Legacy to join some of the best Xbox open-world games there on April 4th.

Hogwarts Legacy consumer response has been "overwhelmingly positive

Speaking during Warner Bros. Discovery's latest investor call, president and chief executive officer David Zaslav said that the company is "thrilled" by what it's seeing coming from its gaming arm. "With the successful launch of Hogwarts Legacy two weeks' ago, we reimagined one of the biggest global franchises in the world," Zaslav said. "The game was one of the most highly anticipated of 2023, and consistent with our commitment to great storytelling, we delayed the launch to get it right. The presence from consumers has been overwhelmingly positive." So far, Hogwarts Legacy is only available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC due to the versions for the previous generation of consoles having been delayed into April. With that in mind, Zaslav went on to say: "We've seen more than $850 million in retail sales, and we still have more platforms launching over the next few months."

Hogwarts Legacy has broken multiple records for the company since it launched, and via a press release Warner Bros. Games has said that it's surpassed "all of the company's previous game launches" with a whopping 12 million units sold. On top of that, the game broke records on the streaming site Twitch by becoming the "biggest single-player game ever," with a peak concurrent count of 1.28 million at launch.
