Capcom has broken away from the norm. Usually, there is no prior warning when costume packs, colour packs and those of similar ilk are to be released. However, Derek Neal, the producer of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition
, has announced several DLC packs that are due to be released in the near future.
The first to arrive will be "Color Pack 1". This pack will add seven new colours for each character and they will be available in "pretty much all modes". The colours can not be seen by people who haven't purchased the DLC though, and neither was the developer able to implement the colour palettes in replay files. This pack is due to be released on September 7th and will cost 160 MSP.
Following later on this "month or so" will be a set of Music Packs too, which (unsurprisingly) add new songs. Between all of these packs, players will be able to add all of the character themes from Street Fighter III: New Generation
and Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact
to their soundtrack collection.
Finally, Neal mentioned a brand new type of DLC - Match Packs. I'll let him explain these:
As some of you may know, we held a semi-secret tournament at the CAPCOM offices earlier this year, and called it Fight For the Future, 2011. We invited 16 high level SF3 players from all around the world to participate, including 4 from Japan. With these Match Packs, we are now going to bring that tournament straight to you, in the comfort of your living room. Each pack comes stocked with over an hour worth of content, and every single match is accompanied by professional commentary, recorded by the one and only: James Chen! Finally, there will be two of these Match Packs. One will cover the entire Tournament Top 8, while the other is a “best bouts” pack stocked with all the hypest matches from the event.
The Match Packs will be arriving later this year. Keep an eye out for our DLC roundups that will let you know exactly when the DLC is released.
