Blizzard says players think "balance is the best it’s been" since Overwatch 2 launch

By Heidi Nicholas,

While discussing Season 3's balance and more, game director Aaron Keller said that the team "hear from players that balance is the best it’s been since the launch of Overwatch 2."

It's been a good few months since Overwatch 2 launched, while Season 3 kicked off earlier in February, and game director Aaron Keller explains, "We feel that the start of Season 3 is in a much better state of balance than the start of Season 2."

Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller spoke about balance in Season 3

Keller continues in an update, saying, "We hear from players that balance is the best it’s been since the launch of OW2, while the game feels fresh based on all the changes made." Later in the update, after discussing tanks and the support and damage roles, Keller confirms that "With the current state of the game, we’re not looking at doing balance changes until our midseason patch." While discussing the matchmaker, meanwhile, Keller notes that queue times in Ranked have dropped, while "average match quality has also risen across the board," along with other positive changes. On the other hand, queue times in Unranked have apparently "risen," while in Ranked there seems to be a big difference in skill levels between players. Blizzard has made a number of changes planned to arrive with the midseason patch too.
