Beneath will drag you into the depths of FPS horror on Xbox in 2024

By Tom West,

Indie developer Camel 101 will submerge us in deep-sea action horror against "unspeakable" monstrosities when Beneath launches on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One in 2024.

Tactical combat, good resource management, and careful monitoring of your sanity will be the key to surviving the creatures waiting for you in the deep-sea scientific facilities of Beneath. It's a first-person action-horror game coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One sometime in 2024, and it's already looking like a game that could join some of the best Xbox horror games.

Announcement trailer for upcoming horror game Beneath

In Beneath, we step into the shoes (flippers?) of Noah Quinn, a professional deep-sea diver who uncovers a mysterious scientific station on the ocean floor. What Quinn finds in the station will test his strength of mind as well as his physical prowess. Armed with an arsenal of weapons, you'll need to face the horrific creatures waiting for you within the walls of the facility if you hope to make it to the surface.

You'll need to carefully conserve your ammo and wisely choose your weapons when exploring, as ammo is limited when scavenging. To help, or hinder matters, the monstrous entities inside come in different forms, meaning you'll need to use your wits to escape the ones that can't be put down with bullets. While managing your gear, working out which enemies you can kill and which ones will laugh off your feeble bullets, you'll also need to manage Quinn's sanity as well — no pressure!

“From the moment you start playing Beneath, you'll be taken to a world of terror and suspense," Camel 101's Ricardo Cesteiro says. "The game is packed with heart-pumping action, intense combat sequences, and spine-chilling scares that will leave you on the edge of your seat.”
