New Gears of War game in development, job listing suggests

A new job listing from Microsoft and developer The Coalition suggests that a new Gears of War game is in development at the Canadian studio.

It's been a while since we've heard anything official on the Gears of War series, but a new job listing for a senior gameplay designer at Xbox Game Studios' The Coalition appears to have confirmed that, unsurprisingly, a new Gears game is in the works.

The listing, which is titled "Senior gameplay designer – Gears of War – The Coalition," says, "The Coalition is a Microsoft first-party development studio located in Vancouver, Canada. We are the official home of the Gears of War franchise, and our objective is to forge the future of the IP and push the limits of Microsoft’s entertainment platforms and devices."

Microsoft and The Coalition are seeking a "skilled and experienced gameplay designer to help create AAA game experiences" who has experience in "character, camera and controls (3Cs), or artificial intelligence (AI) systems" and in "owning large scale features and guiding them from initial concept through to polish and completion."

The job listing doesn't specifically say if this game will be a mainline entry or something else, but insider Jeff Grubb did report recently that The Coalition had cancelled two unannounced projects and is now working on Gears 6.
